Designing A new Site

I am in the process of designing a new blog theme for intuitedLIFE. So please be patient with me. This is my first attempt at theme design and I am finding that it is not that easy so far. When I am finished it should be great but until then it may not look quite right at times. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

The Quest for Knowledge

Well I am three weeks into my third semester a Lansing Community College. It is Going well even though most of the classes I originally signed up for ended up being canceled due to low of enrollment. That was a bit of a head ache. I feel that the classes I ended up with are going to be very rewarding. Interface Design , Oriental Watercolors and Figure Drawing are the three Arts classes that I managed to get into. I am also in an Algebra class but we do not need to think about that one.

Figure Drawing is going great and I feel that I am developing my ability to draw quickly and accurately. Interface design is giving me a new way to think about the way I build websites and how I develop those sites as well as how I approach communication with my clients.

The Oriental water color is a last minute fill in class that I am very glad that I am taking. IT is the only Oriental Water color class in the Mid West. The aesthetics of oriental water colors has always appealed to me so to be learning how to create a composition is great. Like so many other Asian arts it is more than the finished project it is about the process and the state of mind that you are in during the process.

End of my something new

It has been a very busy couple of weeks as the fall semester comes to close.
I am officially going to bebe happy able to put some college as the highest level of schooling completed. I have also learned a great deal which is probably the most important thing when it comes to school.

It appears that I will finish with a 4.0 average for my first semester, which is awesome considering I haven’t been any where near a class room for about twenty one years. But I must say that All of the work ethic that I have developed over the years have paid off. With out that dedication I would have found myself swamped right about now.

It is also nice to know that I have chosen a career path that I love and am willing to put the work in pursuing. Any way that is the latest. I will try and post some more of the Happy Thoughts and correct a few of the spelling errors in the ones I have posted already.

Nancy Etcoff on the surprising science of happiness

Following in my theme of spreading happiness I am posting videos from Ted.com. This is a very Scientific view of the Science of happiness . I think sometimes people pursue happiness without truly understanding what they are pursuing.

Cognitive researcher Nancy Etcoff looks at happiness — the ways we try to achieve and increase it, the way it’s untethered to our real circumstances, and its surprising effect on our bodies.

Type Book: The Mind of Zen

This is a poem I wrote for a typography project. The project was a type book and was based on one font, one letter and one style. Mine was the letter Z Garamond lowercase Italic. I will update this post with some images later.

The Mind of Zen

stars move through the zodiac and mark autumns zenith
on the horizon clouds zoom silently in azure skies
i reach for the last zinnia blossom
bees buzz and zip past my hand
i have known the freeze of winters ice,the blaze and zeal of summers warmth
a zillion thoughts, zero intrude
my mind is the essence of zen

Starting Over

171_4layers_aprint_jsw

I had recently posted that I Had to Start fresh with the site here because of difficulties upgrading. That is no longer the case. I have recovered the file and am glad to start fresh with out losing everything.

The site will now included thoughts and posts about art and graphic design and my experience going to school to become a designer. I will as always include spirituality and metaphysics and my rambling thoughts on life. I hope to include many samlpes of my work as well and look forward to your thoughts on it.

Being a freshman

I have not written anything here for quite some time. I have been very busy being a college freshman. I enrolled this fall for the first semester of my associates in Graphic design at Lansing Community College. I tell you it has been a blast and a lot of work all at the same time.

I thought about my blog to day and realized it has been months since I had even checked anything and I was just letting this site go to waste. So I decided to drop you all a line and say hello.

This has been one heck of a manifestation and things just keep happening at break neck speeds. I will write the full story when I have a bit more time but right now I have some research to do. So until then. Be blessed and kind to each other.

Restoration of spirit

I have been very fortunate to be spending the last couple of days in Kennebunkport, Maine. It has been a much needed break and very restorative to my spirit. This quaint little weekend destination town has a very peaceful energy even with the many who flock to it’s shops and restaurants or it’s many hotels or vacation homes. Kennebunkport some how treats this energy gently and transmutes it to an amazingly soothing vibe. The people here are calm friendly and welcoming even with the constant invasion of outsiders.

The land has a sense of life to it that speaks well of the people in this part of the world. The homes and towns and villages seem not so much to shape the land to their needs as it seems they take their cues from the land. The homes are gently nestled in beautiful nooks of meadow, marsh, sea sides and wood blending harmoniously with the natural enviroments of the land.

I can feel the wholeness of this place. The lands still lives here and is doing what it does best… healing, nuturing and sustaining the people here. Maine is revitalizing my spirit. Maine is healing me. I only hope that I can do something in return for Maine.
